FutureBook

Questions

Before you start.

Short answers. The investments stay with your broker. FutureBook keeps the story.

Is FutureBook safe?

FutureBook uses your Trading212 key only to read the account, order history, positions, and pies.

It does not place trades, and it does not withdraw money.

Create the key as read-only. Turn on Account, History (orders), Portfolio, and Pies. Leave Orders — Execute and Pies — Write off.

Trading212 does not tell us the full permission list on a key. If write access is left on, FutureBook still only reads, but the key itself could do more. Turn those off yourself.

The key and secret are encrypted before they are stored. They never appear on your child’s page. You can turn the key off in Trading212 at any time.

Does FutureBook hold or manage my money?

No.

The investments stay with your broker. FutureBook does not hold the money, and it does not buy or sell for you.

It shows the investments you made for your child, and the story around them.

Why Trading212?

Trading212 is the broker FutureBook connects to today.

A Pie can keep one child’s investments in their own group. That helps when you have more than one child.

You can also choose which imported orders belong to a book. A Pie is optional.

Your broker looks after the investments. FutureBook tells the story.

Why not just give cash?

Cash in an envelope is easy to spend.

Years later, a child may not remember who gave it, or why.

FutureBook keeps the person, the occasion, and the message or card with the gift.

Money set aside for a child may have many years ahead of it.

Cash can still show the same number years later. Inflation can reduce what that money can buy.

Investing gives the money a chance to grow. Its value can also fall. Returns are not guaranteed.

Do I need a separate Trading212 account for each child?

No.

One Trading212 account is enough. FutureBook keeps a separate book for each child.

A Pie can group one child’s investments. You can also assign imported orders to the right book yourself.

Do I need Trading212 to use FutureBook?

Today, the numbers in a book come from investments imported from Trading212.

You can create a book first. You cannot type in an amount and have it become the balance.

FutureBook is built so another broker can be added later. No other broker is promised, and there is no date.

Is my child’s book public?

The book is not listed anywhere. Search engines are asked not to index it.

Someone opens it with a private link. The link contains a long random token. The child does not log in.

Anyone with the full link can open the child’s page. Share it only with people you trust.

Your private notes, Trading212 key, and broker account details are not on that page.

If you shared the link with the wrong person, create a new private link. The old one stops working.

Does my child need an account?

No.

You manage FutureBook. Your child, or someone in the family, opens the page with the private link.

That page is only for looking. It does not need a FutureBook login or a Trading212 login.

Is FutureBook investment advice?

No.

FutureBook does not tell you what to buy, and it does not promise returns.

Investments can rise or fall in value.
